Greetings!  5-08-08

Happy Mom's Day to all of you out there! If you're taking mom out for Brunch, may I recommend Colterra here in Niwot. Then while you're here in town, stop in..all mom's, and mom's and daughters shopping together, come in Sunday and get an additional 15% off your purchases! Be sure to mention to Nalani you read that here and she'll give you the discount. This is only an offer to you, my faithful readers!  Lots of wonderful things are here in the store right now....I mean I am PACKED with simply amazing clothes. For example.......

Clothes of Note: I got in a great collection of vintage dresses, 50's cotton shirtwaist with belts, and 60's secretary type dresses. There are some pictures on the website of some of these....they are all small. Looking for Mother of the Bride or Groom dresses for this summer? I got in two lovely formals (size 10), an amazing artsy platinum colored long dress with jacket in a 2X, another artsy maroon 3 piece outfit that includes a cut-out velvet shawl (pictured) (size med to Lg), and a few dressy suits in size 4-8. My dress rack is overflowing with wonderful sexy strappy dresses, short and longer, my shoe area is also overflowing, with all sizes....from 5's to one pair of 12! The same woman who brought me the gorgeous 2X dress also brought in a light olive linen pantsuit and several great summer blouses...all XL to 2X. Jewelry? I got in a bunch of gold Trifari pieces, as well as some wonderful brightly colored 60's beaded necklaces, and I got a new consigner, a man who travels to China quite a bit and brings back jewelry. I took from him a gorgeous 4-strand necklace of pink sea pearls, and a rose quartz with fresh water pearls and tiny jade beads necklace and bracelet set (Mother's day gifts???). Be sure to check out the slide show on the website of my favorite outfits.

Customers of note: You know, some  may think that the only people who shop for used clothing are poor student types.....but I want to take a moment and brag about my clientele.....I've made no bones about dressing the female singers in many of the popular local bands (Jill Watkins, Liz Valles, Erica Brown, Jenn Cleary, Dawn Beck, etc.), as well as other performers, (Orchid Mei, Randall Dubis). I can also count amongst my customers the wives of the top executives at Naropa and CU! They both LOVE shopping here! So you're in great company when you venture out to Niwot for your clothing needs!

Music Happenings this weekend:

Thursday, tonight, May 8th: The Dueling Pianos are at Nissi's. Click on their website and you'll hear something you don't expect.....'Welcome to the Jungle' by Guns-n-Roses! God, I love hard rock. The Hammersmith Band  out of CA, is at the Boulder Outlook.

Friday, May 9th: Sugar Daddy is at the Boulder Outlook, Bill Mckay Band (from Leftover Salmon) is at Oskar Blues, Riverbend Bluegrass is at Conor O'Neils, one of my favorite classic rock bands, The Lost Canyon Band is at Nissi's. Not sold out yet, and if you haven't seen these guys and you LOVE classic rock....call and make your reservation now. They're not your typical cover band doing easy  3-chorders....they take on songs by Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, The Who, Yes, and my favorite song, which is worth the price of admission to watch all on its own....they do 'Hocus Pocus' by Focus! The really fun harmonica based blues band, the Delta Sonics are at the Lincoln Roadhouse. The yummy Chase-n-the Dream are at Hiccups III (Hwy 36 and Pecos). And my buddies, the Rhythm All-Stars are at Ziggie's.

Sat, May 10th, my good buddy and International Blues Competition winner, Lionel Young is at Oskars, The Modern Rhythm Project is at Conor's (they are the leftovers from Harmonica Lewinski, sans Mad Dog on the harp, playing nothing modern at all....but great old classic rock and R & B). My good buddy and fellow Niwotian, Randall Dubis is at the Lincoln Roadhouse,  Chase-n-the Dream are still at Hiccups III (Hwy 36 and Pecos). Du4Roux are at Ziggie's. Teresa Lynne is at the Outlook.  more great classic rock at Nissi's as the Police Tribute band, Message in a Bottle return. As I checked out their website for the link, I discovered they had a video! So guess who my band of the week is? (If you're in a band, and you would like to be featured as my band of the week, I'd love to put you there...but I need video folks!! If you don't have any and want someone talented with a camera to shoot your band in action, I highly recommend Bill Hayes (bill@creativeheadspace.com) . He created this website for me, and all the videos on my site that feature me singing, he shot, so there's your portfolio to look through. )

Dance Lovers: Saturday night at the Avalon, FortJazz....a 17 piece Big Band Swing music dance, $18 per person, $10 students, lesson at 7, dancing from 8 to 11, BYOB, contact Jim X, at 303-449-5962 or avd@columbine.netwww.villagepartscoalition.org.

Plan Ahead: Next Sunday, May 18th,  The Jenn Cleary Band returns to Oskar Blues and Jenn has been kind enough to invite me to sit in on a couple of songs. I'm going to finally get to perform a song I always wanted to do....some 'Proud Mary', Tina style.....can't wait!

That's it for this week. Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend and I hope to see lots of you shopping, dancing or here where you do both as we BOP WHILE YOU SHOP!
